How Can I Spot Obsessive Compulsive Disorder?
OCD often involves more than just occasional worries or repetitive behaviors. It can deeply affect your thoughts, emotions, and day-to-day activities.
Some common signs of OCD include:
- Intrusive Thoughts: Recurrent, unwanted thoughts that trigger anxiety, such as fears of contamination, harming others, or taboo topics.
- Compulsive Behaviors: Repetitive actions performed to reduce anxiety, like excessive cleaning, checking, or counting. These behaviors may take up significant time each day.
- Intense Anxiety: Obsessive thoughts can lead to overwhelming fear or panic, making it hard to concentrate on anything else.
- Feelings of Shame or Guilt: Struggling with OCD can lead to feelings of guilt about the thoughts or shame over compulsive actions.
- Low Self-Esteem: Constantly battling intrusive thoughts and compulsions can make you feel inadequate or defeated.
- Avoidance and Isolation: Avoiding activities or social situations to prevent triggers or hide OCD symptoms.
OCD is a condition that can deeply impact your day-to-day life, and it shows up differently for everyone. If you’re noticing any of these signs interfering with your life, reaching out for professional help can be a powerful first step.

ABOUT US
Why Work With Hamlett Health Psychotherapy
“It’s easy to feel overwhelmed in a life full of demands without the support, acknowledgement or tools you need to succeed.”
Growing up as the seventh of eight children, I mastered the art of observation. I learned to navigate complex relationship dynamics and understand that each of us experiences life uniquely. This insight was deepened by my time volunteering at a group foster home for teen moms, where I saw first-hand the power of feeling heard and acknowledged.
Life can be hard and busy going through our days holding onto so much, stuck in our worlds, and often never allowing ourselves to process, think deeply, or express how we truly feel before we are onto the next thing. Sometimes, all we need is someone to sit with us and truly listen.
With over 23 years of experience, I developed Hamlett Health Psychotherapy practice to provide a safe and nurturing environment where clients can openly discuss their thoughts, emotions, and relationships. Each treatment plan is customized to promote healing and help you develop resilience, confidence, and a renewed sense of purpose.
