ABOUT US

Why Work With Hamlett Health Psychotherapy

“It’s easy to feel overwhelmed in a life full of demands without the support, acknowledgement or tools you need to succeed.”

Growing up as the seventh of eight children, I mastered the art of observation. I learned to navigate complex relationship dynamics and understand that each of us experiences life uniquely. This insight was deepened by my time volunteering at a group foster home for teen moms, where I saw first-hand the power of feeling heard and acknowledged.

Life can be hard and busy going through our days holding onto so much, stuck in our worlds, and often never allowing ourselves to process, think deeply, or express how we truly feel before we are onto the next thing. Sometimes, all we need is someone to sit with us and truly listen.

With over 22 years of experience, I developed Hamlett Health Psychotherapy practice to provide a safe and nurturing environment where clients can openly discuss their thoughts, emotions, and relationships. Each treatment plan is customized to promote healing and help you develop resilience, confidence, and a renewed sense of purpose.

Let's transform life's challenges into stepping stones for growth.

Frequently Asked Questions About Attention Disorder Therapy

Attention disorders often include trouble focusing, restlessness, impulsivity, and difficulty staying organized. Adults with attention disorders may also face emotional challenges like irritability, frustration, or mood swings, making even everyday tasks harder to manage. If these symptoms are interfering with your life, attention disorder therapy can help by providing tools and strategies to address these challenges and regain control.

The most well-known attention disorder is ADHD, which comes in three subtypes:

  • Predominantly Inattentive Presentation (often called ADD): This subtype involves difficulty focusing, staying organized, and following through on tasks without hyperactivity.

  • Predominantly Hyperactive-Impulsive Presentation: This subtype features restlessness, impulsive actions, and an inability to sit still or stay quiet for long periods.

  • Combined Presentation: This subtype includes a mix of inattentive and hyperactive-impulsive symptoms.

Additionally, related conditions like Executive Function Disorder (EFD) affect planning, time management, and organizational skills, often making daily tasks feel overwhelming. Through attention disorder therapy, you can learn how to manage the specific challenges of your subtype and create systems to support your strengths.

No, attention disorders aren’t limited to children—they can affect people of all ages. While many individuals are diagnosed during childhood, symptoms often continue into adolescence and adulthood. In fact, many adults only recognize their symptoms later in life, especially when challenges at work, in relationships, or at home become more noticeable. Attention disorder therapy is specifically designed to help adults identify their struggles and create tailored strategies for managing their symptoms in ways that fit their unique responsibilities and lifestyles.
Yes, attention disorders, including ADHD, often have a genetic component. If someone in your family has been diagnosed with an attention disorder, there’s a higher likelihood you might experience similar symptoms. Knowing this can help you approach attention disorder therapy with a better understanding of how these challenges developed and how to manage them effectively.
Yes, attention disorders often overlap with other mental health conditions, such as anxiety, depression, or learning disorders. These co-occurring conditions can make diagnosis more complex, but treating them together can lead to better outcomes. Attention disorder therapy takes a comprehensive approach, addressing both the core symptoms of your attention disorder and any other conditions you may be experiencing, ensuring you get the full support you need to feel more balanced and in control.
